Advantages and disadvantages of ion exchange resin method compared with carbon slurry method

There are three main methods to extract gold from ore: cyanidation, flotation, and gravity separation.  Choosing the most effective approach depends heavily on the unique characteristics of each mine. A gold processing plant that employs a scientific and data-driven selection process can significantly improve its efficiency and profitability.
 

1) The resin adsorbs gold at a high speed, has a high adsorption capacity, and has a wide application range. Therefore, various cyanide solutions obtained from leaching, calcining or flotation tailings leaching of low-grade gold ore are suitable for treatment by ion exchange resin
;

2) The resin can be desorbed well under low temperature and normal pressure, and can be regenerated after simple desorption after desorption, and the activated carbon must be desorbed at a higher temperature, and it needs to be periodically activated at a high temperature after desorption;

3) Organic substances have little effect on the adsorption process of the resin. For example, for argillaceous oxide ore, carbonaceous ore, slurry containing flotation agent, and other ores difficult to be treated by conventional cyanidation, it has good adaptability and high recovery rate;

4) The resin can adsorb free cyanide ions, thereby achieving recycling and controlling pollution.

However, the disadvantage of the ion exchange resin method is that the selectivity is poor, the viscosity of the resin is small, and the screening operation of the finer mesh is required, which increases the difficulty of separating the tree from the slurry. Research on high performance resins should be strengthened.
