Cation Exchange Resins for Boron Removal From Wastewater

Boron Removal Resin is an ion exchange resin mainly used to remove boron from wastewater. Its working principle is based on ion exchange method, which uses functional groups on the resin to undergo exchange reaction with target ions, thereby achieving the purpose of separation and concentration. Boron removal resin is widely used in various fields, including seawater desalination, drinking water, ultrapure water boron removal, and wastewater boron removal.

The effectiveness of boron removal resin is mainly influenced by factors such as other ions in water and resin particle size. The presence of moderate amounts of sodium and chloride ions will not have a significant impact on its adsorption performance, but high concentrations of Na2SO4 and CaCl2 may interfere with its adsorption performance to some extent. The reduction of resin particle size can provide a larger adsorption surface area, which is beneficial for improving boron removal efficiency.

In practical applications, boron removal resins are often used in combination with other boron removal methods, such as chemical precipitation, adsorption, etc., to achieve higher removal efficiency and lower costs. Regeneration treatment is a key step in the reuse of resin, usually carried out by washing with sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, washing with distilled water, regenerating with sodium hydroxide, and finally washing with distilled water to complete the regeneration process.
