Brine Treatment of Anion Ion Exchange Resin

The application of Anion Resin in saltwater treatment mainly focuses on removing anions in water, such as chloride ions (Cl ⁻), sulfate ions (SO ₄² ⁻), nitrate ions (NO ∝⁻), and other harmful inorganic anions. Anion Exchange Resin typically contain functional groups with positive charges that can be exchanged, such as quaternary ammonium groups (in strong alkaline resins) or primary, secondary, and tertiary amine groups (in weak alkaline resins).

In the process of saltwater treatment, anionic resin are mainly used for softening and desalination, especially when the goal is to reduce anions other than hardness ions (such as calcium and magnesium ions) in water. For example, before seawater desalination, it is usually necessary to remove a portion of the anions in advance to alleviate the pressure on subsequent processing steps such as reverse osmosis membranes.
